Dearest Friends, Family, and Music Community,

For those of you whom have not heard about the untimely passing of our beloved friend, we invite you all to Double Door on Saturday, July 25th to celebrate the life and musical legacy of Fabian Guerra. With all door and raffle prize proceeds donated to benefit the Guerra family, the show will include a one-off performance by the seven piece Face Your Fear era lineup of Forty Piece Choir along with Wolcott, Ruck La’ Rou, Waste, Nave, and Troy Petty.

He was a great guy, would come into the room & have everybody laughing.

I worked with Fabian & though I only knew him for a short time he'll always have a place in my heart. He was a great guy, would come into the room & have everybody laughing. He gave the best advice, that I'll never forget & he had such love & passion for his family. Though he's no longer here with us, his guidance & spirit is.

Much love,
Lisa P.

Poem of Life

Sara and kids...I am so sorry for your loss. I found this poem when my uncle passed away earlier this month and I had to pass it on to you!

POEM OF LIFE

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...

Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord

Fabian was my nephew - the oldest, the first, a very special position in any family. My heart is broken beyond repair, but reading all of these sincere and loving tributes gives me some solace. Fabian's compassion and passion will live on with storm chasers, music guys, family and friends for all time. But, the loss remains immeasurable. Deepest thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

WE WILL MISS YOU BUD!

" Fabian was a good guy. Back in 2007 we had just met and talked on AIM after talking a bit on the old mIRC chat room. He invited me to chase with him that year in KS and OK in May. I had to decline since I was trying out for an independent baseball team on May 5th. This is significant because had I not had tryouts we would have caught Greensburg together. For that I am greatful that he even invited me along. He did an honorable and admirable thing in helping the people of Greensburg after such a tragedy. The rest of 2007 we spent chating about different things and looked to hook up on a local chase. He nowcasted for me a couple of times, most notably on October 18th, 2007, during the outbreak of severe weather in IL and IN. "

My memories of my big brother are endless...

Fabian became my big brother when I was six.

It was always so exciting when I saw them because I had been so alone before that. Fabian was undoubtedly our leader. He and Marcelo used to 'fake' fight in order to scare me and it always worked. When I'd start crying and run to tell on him, he'd fall over hysterically laughing. Very funny, huh?!

My memories of my big brother are endless...He protected me many times. When I was in Fifth Grade there was a weird boy who would follow me home from school every day. One day, Fabian saw how flustered I was as I ran into the house... he asked me, "do you want me to make sure he never follows you again?" and I said, "yes". Well... my tall, big bro ran out of the Catalpa house and into the alleyway in such a fury. Watching him through my back bedroom window (where I was hiding) I saw him crouch into an attack position and storm into the alley grunting and screaming at the top of his lungs. Oh My!!! That poor little fifth grader never came back. I was so thankful for him that day and felt a real pride in my heart that he lived with me. That I was lucky enough to have a big brother who chased away the boys : )

When I was in college, Larry and I went to see Gustavo perform somewhere. Upon exiting the venue, my moms bright red BMW had been destroyed in a police chase. I was hysterical of course at the sight and of the fear of telling my mom. My very first instinct, was to run right back into that place and find my big brother. And that is exactly what I did. He was so shocked but calm. He went with us to the police station and just handled me and the whole situation so well! A true big brother.

I love him. I miss him. But I know that he is ALWAYS near us...protecting us.

Written with love and tears,

His little sister,

Almi

Fabian has definitely left this world a better place and is greatly missed.

I was blessed to have Fabian as part of my family for over 13 years. From the moment I met Fabian, I loved him. Always genuine and passionate, the energy he radiated was contagious. I am thankful that he was such an enormous influence on my better half, Gustavo ("Goose"). You couldn't help but appreciate Fabian's honesty, authenticity/transparency and sensitivity. In my heart, I will always see Fabian smiling, playing music w/Goose at Tio Fabian's and rave about how this is the year the Cubs will win the championship.

Although our family will never be the same again, he has left us with great memories and the two most wonderful gifts, Milla and Miles. Fabian will never be forgotten but rather will continue to live on through each and every one of us. We will continue to keep him present through laughter and music at every gathering, in our meditations and whenever we are fortunate to be in Milla, Miles or Sara's presence.

Fabian has definitely left this world a better place and is greatly missed.

Steve, you are in my prayers. I know you and Fabian were very close. I pray that God would be with Fabian's wife and children right now. On my way home from chasing yesterday I was reflecting on the week long chase that Fabian was on with me and Damon Shaw, and also on the first time I met Fabian in 2003 when Steve was out chasing with him. This morning I was shocked to read what happened when I came onto Stormtrack. I know Fabian's children admired him as a great dad and stormchaser. You'll be missed Fabian.

Fabian booked me for a show in 2005. I wanted my 10 year old to see where I was going to play so I took him to the club at 12:00 noon the day before the show while just the bar was open. The bar owner let me show my son the stage and explain details of the environment to him that he was unfamiliar with. I learned that afternoon from a friend, that the bar owner was a Pud and he called and bent Fabian’s ear because I came to the club and disturbed a lunch time meal from a patron by talking about my music and asking him to come back and watch my show that night. I meant no ill intent to the club owner, but Fabian had to bend over and take one for me as a result of my spontaneous visit. If my friend did not inform me that Fabian had gotten grief from the owner, I would have never known. Fabian did not feel it was important to bust me for that. He knew I was trying to share and create music with my son, he understood my actions as a sign of anticipation, not as miss behavior. He never did mention that he had to stand up for me,,, I never thanked him for doing it. Thank You Fabian, Sorry I showed up 30 hours early for my sound check!

I too offer my condolences, as I agree with Glenn Geise, whom I chased with in May 2004. All storm chasers are family and my prayers are with his family.

Virginia Sky Chaser

I knew Fabian since I got into chasing and the community in 2004. He was a regular in a storm chasing IRC channel that I was a part of. I remember him being very enthusiastic about his chase-cations. There was one time in 2005 I believe, he and I talked about the chase-cation he was preparing for. He was packing his stuff in advance and he could not wait.

He loved what he did and was always rather humble. He was dedicated and never pushy or showy. I always enjoyed talking with him. Sadly, the last time he and I spoke was last summer.

It is always hard when we lose a fellow chaser. It is like losing a family member. If someone passes it affects every one of us. I remember how tragic it was when we lost Eric Nguyen back in 2007. No matter what, we will always keep them in our hearts and minds.

Since today is a Moderate Risk day in the heart of tornado alley, I hope someone catches a tornado in honour of Fab. He would have loved a day like today to chase. According to Craig, he believes that Fab would want people to go and chase today. I will dedicate my next chase to him.
