Virginia Sky Chaser

I knew Fabian since I got into chasing and the community in 2004. He was a regular in a storm chasing IRC channel that I was a part of. I remember him being very enthusiastic about his chase-cations. There was one time in 2005 I believe, he and I talked about the chase-cation he was preparing for. He was packing his stuff in advance and he could not wait.

He loved what he did and was always rather humble. He was dedicated and never pushy or showy. I always enjoyed talking with him. Sadly, the last time he and I spoke was last summer.

It is always hard when we lose a fellow chaser. It is like losing a family member. If someone passes it affects every one of us. I remember how tragic it was when we lost Eric Nguyen back in 2007. No matter what, we will always keep them in our hearts and minds.

Since today is a Moderate Risk day in the heart of tornado alley, I hope someone catches a tornado in honour of Fab. He would have loved a day like today to chase. According to Craig, he believes that Fab would want people to go and chase today. I will dedicate my next chase to him.

Good Friend and Chase Partner

"My good friend and chase partner Fabian Guerra was killed in a car crash sometime last night or early this morning on his way to meeting me for today's chase, please keep him and his family in your thoughts...He was a great chaser, an excellent nowcaster and a good friend..."

"Yeah, I saw the news over at Stormtrack....sorry to hear about that Craig. He seemed like a good guy that time when he met up with us in Northern IA. My condolences go out to his family."

"I did not know your friend but anytime a tragedy happens to someone we love, like or respect, its very hard to find words that make the loss any easier. I know I can speak for many of us, that our thoughts and Prayers go out to all the family and friends of Fabian Guerra."

Vortex2 on Facebook

Dennis Sherrod

Dennis Sherrod Please pass this information on to all.
It is with deep regrets that I inform everyone of the death of a fellow Veteran Storm Chaser Fabian Guerra. He was killed in an automobile accident last night 06-05-2009 while enroute from his home in Chicago to Iowa to meet up with two other storm chasers. He leaves behind a wife, their two children, and other family members. Fabian was to chase and document storms this weekend with Craig Maire and Darrin Rasberry. A Fund has been established in the name and for the family of Fabian Guerra. A small portion will be used for flowers from the Chaser Community and Friends. The remaining funds, as long as they continue to come in will be given to the wife and children of Fabian Guerra.
